ph.1321Description
Black and white photograph print of Joseph Huddart's house at 7970 West 120th Avenue, circa 1930. The house was across the street from an office for Huddart's business, Broomfield Lumber Company. The print is 5" x 6.5". The image shows the two story house with cars parked in the driveway and to the right and to the left of the house by a separate garage. A spare tire case on the back of the car in the driveway has the words "Colorado Springs" printed on it, with other indecipherable text. An open gate can also be seen to the left of the car in the driveway. A few trees flank the house on either side. Joseph Huddart was a longtime Broomfield resident, operating his own business, Broomfield Lumber Company, for over fifty years.
The reverse side has a piece of scotch tape with the inscitpion, in blue pencil: "p. 38E-E-101 same size. 2nd picture." This message pertains to the photograph's use in the book "Gem of the Mountain Valley." Another label on the back has typed text with the message:
"Ever wonder what the residence of Joe Huddart looked like without those lovely big trees? Here's the way the Broomfield Lumber owner's home looked in 1930. Now 80-foot trees provide luxurious shade. Wonderful what nature can do with time..."
