Description

A 35mm color slide of an old bank vault at the Broomfield Lumber Company building, 7905 West 120th Avenue, 1979. According to research done by Broomfield Depot Museum staff in 1979, the Broomfield State Bank on 120th originally opened in 1924. Joseph Huddart bought the bank's building shortly after it closed during the Depression in 1933, to use for his lumber business. The bank's vault remained after the building changed ownership. The image shows a safe in the center on a tile floor, with the text "Mosler Safe & lock Co., H.N. Warner Gen'l. Ac't Rochester N.Y." painted on the front. A file cabinet is visible on the right, obscuring text on at the top of the safe door: "Graham & [missing]". Boxes and other items can be seen stored above and around the safe. Inscription, in ink, on the front paper border of the slide states, "Vault at Br. Lumber."
