Description

A 35mm color slide of a former boarding house at 7705 West 120th Avenue, 1979. According to research done by Broomfield Depot Museum staff in 1979, the boarding house was originally owned and operated by the wife of Turk Lewis. Turk owned a barber shop and pool hall across the street. Joseph Huddart supposedly spent his first night in Broomfield in the boarding house in 1924. The image shows a brown stuccoed house with gabled roof and a porch with an overhanging portion of roof and steps. Several trees obscure the front of the house. A dog behind a chain link fence is visible on the left, a street in the foreground. Inscription, ink, on the front paper border states, "7705 W. 120th Ave. Old boarding house."
