Description

A 35mm color slide of a former boarding house in Broomfield, 1979. According to research done by Broomfield Depot Museum staff in 1979, the boarding house was originally owned and operated by the wife of Turk Lewis. Turk owned a barber shop and pool hall across the street. Joseph Huddart supposedly spent his first night in Broomfield in the boarding house in 1924. By 1979, Williams Electric had moved into the building. The image shows a brown, adobe-looking house with three gabled roof sections and a porch with overhanging roof and steps. Trees obscure the front of the building, and a yellow and red clock sign for Williams Electric is visible to the right. A white house can be seen to the left. Inscription, ink, on the front paper border states, "Boarding House 7705 W. 120th" and "BDM."
