Scope and Content

Broomfield Shopping Center Urban Renewal Program Summery has the questions raised about the redevelopment of the old Broomfield Retail Center bounded by Midway, Nickel Street and Highway 287. All existing buildings will be removed except for Phillips 66, World Savings and the Goodyear store. Target will will build a new 117,000 square foot store. There is no risk to Broomfield from this redelvelopment program. Target will pay all Urban Renewal costs-to be repaid to Target if their store generates sales taxes higher than current receipts. There will be no new taxes - Broomfield Urban Renewal Authority will pay a fair moving cost allowance to tennets that were forced to relocate. If the the city voters approve the redevelopment on November 2, 1993 the new Target is scheduled to open in Spring 1995. The redevelopment will creat 250 new jobs and improve the image and merchandise options to Broomfield residents. This question summary was prepared 09/1993.
