A group of Denver investors soon saw the potential for centrally-located Broomfield as a suburban subdivision of ranch-style homes similar to the types of developments being constructed all over America after WWII. With easy access from the turnpike and half-way between two large metropolises, Broomfield was envisioned as, “A modern dream city where everything is planned from the beginning.” They purchased the land adjacent to the new turnpike, the former 3,600 acre Zang’s Ranch, a horse breeding and stockyard operation owned by wealthy Denver brewer Adolph Zang.
