The cookbook begins with a chapter "Notes on Early American Cookery." Each president from George Washington to Lyndon B. Johnson is the topic of a chapter. Each chapter provides biographical information, notes on the decor of the White House during their administration, descriptions of the china patterns they selected, and includes their favorite recopies. Hardback 12"(h) x 9"(w) x 1" (d) full-sized cookbook with illustrations and photographs. The front cover has a drawing of the White House with five first ladies in ovals, and title in script on top, with presidential emblem behind it and a small golden oval with picture of food on bottom center. The back cover has an ornate oval golden frame with an eagle on top. Inside the frame is a mirror reflecting an arrangement of food on a dining table.
