Description

This wedding ensemble consists of two pieces, a jacket (a) and a skirt (b). They are navy blue moire silk. Jacket (a)- The collar is of a ribbed ivory silk, an attached inner vest is of the same material. The sleeves are a raglan variation with piping in the seam. The sleeves are about 3/4 length and have an attached ruffle at end. The jacket has a piping either side of center front and self-fabric covered buttons near throat. The lining material is a silk crepe material, ivory background with spread apart sprays of pink and purple flowers. What appears to be weights are found at center back and on one side, likely there used to be three. The tag at center back of neck reads "Taylors, Kansas City, MO". Jacket measures 19" (w) x 21" (l). Skirt (b) - The skirt has a full pleated godet at about the level of the left knee. A-line in silhouette with an internal waistband of a stiff black ribbed material seen in many garments of this period as a stabalizer for the silk. Snaps close up the back. Skirt measures 19" (w) x 40" (l). Box that this ensemble came in was disposed of 9/1/2011 by Jacqui Ainlay-Conley as it was very dirty and not relevant.
