Full length 56" (l) dress with long sleeves and attached flat collar. Yoke with self-fabric ruffle. Open up front with short waist length lining that shows the outer fabric near neck with buttons from chest to neck. The front opening has no forms of closure besides one half of the what used to be a tie that would tie at the waist to keep it closed. The set-in sleeve has a buttoned cuff at the wrist. There are two pockets, one on either side of the hip. A deep ruffle at the hem, starts at mid calf level. Braided yarn is used as a decorative element and is exhibited on the hoke, collar, and pockets.
This dress would have been worn around the house and especially in the mornings before a woman was fully dressed. This was also a popular form of dress for pregnant woman as the style was loose through the mid-section.Collection
