White Cotton Dress

Description

This is a white cotton dress. The dress has a square neckline surrounded by lace. The elbow length sleeves have pintucks, lace insertion, and lace at the elbow. The waist line has an odd untucked possibly repaired(?) area. There are pintucks throughout the bodice and the waistline. Dress measures 19" (w) x 50" (l). These white sheer dresses were called lingerie dresses and were a very popular trend at the turn of the century, but some go back further than that, as early as the 1880s. This one is probably made out of lawn or batiste.
