2022.0.154Scope and Content
Souvenir postcard, likely a tradesman's sample mass-produced with every city's name, this one being for Broomfield. Early 20th century. Unused/never mailed. Front of postcard features a red and pink rose against a while background with a short poem in red ink:
"Don't let this surprise you
But gently remind you
That I'm still in BROOMFIELD, COL.
If you have any time
Just write me a line
Since now you can't give me a call."
Scribbled in In blue ink in top-right corner is "July 9".
Reverse side is unused, although "$1 per 100" is scribbled in pencil along left edge. Printed in green ink is "This Space For Writing Messages" on left and "Post Card" on right. In the area where the stamp goes reads "Place Stamp Here / Domestic One Cent / Foreign Two Cents" - this price helps date the postcard to between 1898 and 1916 when it was 1 cent to mail a postcard. 1905-1915 has been described as an era of a "Postcard Craze."Collection
