This is a metal "Reeves" brand coal bucket with coal inside. The bucket has a spout like projection on one side of the rim and a moveable handle on the top. The bucket measures 10.5" (h) x 13.5" (w) x 16.5" (d).
A coal bucket like this would have been in a Depot near the stove to heat the building
