Item is a large hard-bound graph paper book from the Church Ditch Water Authority. Church Ditch, where the book comes from, is a carrier ditch for the Water Authority, meaning that they have exclusive rights to distribute its water. The ditch begins at a headgate in Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado and continues for 26 miles, finally ending past Jefferson County at 100th Avenue and Simms Street at what was at the time known as Ketner Flume. The Church Ditch Water Authority was established in 1865 and is still in operation.
This log book has a stylized cover, with two maroon sides edged with gold encasing a black (possibly leather) strip in the center. A price tag on the inner front cover indicates that the book was purchased for $21.75, and information inside shows that the book was manufactured by a company called Shaw's. The multi-column book's specific ID and dimensions are present on its spine.
Most of the pages inside the book are unused, but those that are include various columns of data from Church Ditch during the 1980-1982 season, beginning on September 10, 1980. The Great Western Reservoir water elevation is measured daily, along with the acres it extends across. For different areas including Broomfield, Clear Creek, Ketner, Dry Creek, and Walnut Creek, the amount of water and how many feet per second it moved was measured. Columns were marked with either pencil or pen.Collection
