Item is a black-and-white photograph of the Eisenhower family taken in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in July of 1918. The photograph shows Mamie and Dwight standing on either side of their young son Doud Dwight, called "Icky" for short, who was born in September of 1917. He passed away in January of 1921 from scarlet fever. Mamie is wearing a feathered hat and pearl earrings, and Dwight is wearing his military uniform. Dwight Eisenhower would later go on to lead the D-Day Invasion of Normandy Beach in France during World War II and be elected president of the United States. Mamie established the public library here in Broomfield, and it was named after her. The photo is laminated and has a white border.Photograph Details
