This is a metal Adlake-brand train track switch lock with chain attached. It was used to lock switch outside on the track so no one else came by a changed it. From Colorado & Southern Railroad. Patent # 204048. The lock measures 3.5" (h) x 3" (w) x 0.75" (d). The chain has 10 links and measures 9" (l).
A UP key opened the lock. Maybe it is not C&S? 01/02/2018
