Description

Item is a 382-page hardbound black book with the title printed at the top in gold lettering. The subheading "Centennial 1889-1989" is present at the bottom, indicating that the book was published for Lafayette's one hundredth anniversary. The words "Treeless Plain to Thriving City" are present at the bottom as well. On the inner front and back titles of the book, there are maps of Lafayette and the surrounding areas. The first so many pages of the book go over the major events in Lafayette's history. The pages are formatted somewhat like a newspaper, and each mini article is complete with photos. The next section of the book focuses on different individuals that live or had lived in the area. The people's names are listed in alphabetical order, and there are a few paragraphs and a photo for each of them. For significant members of the Lafayette community, there is a massive amount of information. The book ends with an index that includes page numbers for where each person was mentioned.
