This is a canvas and leather money bag used by the Denver-Boulder Turnpike (U.S. Highway 36) to collect tolls. The bag is made of green canvas with leather around the base, on the handles, and on the top left corner where the locking mechanism is. The bag has the text " Denver-Boulder/ Turnpike" embroidered on the front in yellow thread. The bottom of the bag has 6 metal rivets to help reinforce the bag when it is full of change. There is a cardboard handle on either side of the bag that is covered in leather. The handles are held on by metal loops. The bag zips on the right side across to the left, where a locking mechanism is present. There is a 4" (l) loop of twine hanging from the loop on the zipper. The bag measures 17" (h) x 16" (w) x 6.5" (d).Collection
