This is a clear glass canning jar with a square base and flat sides. The jar is Ball brand. The lid (marked 1994.2.6A) is metal and screws onto the jar. The sides of the jar have a pattern of small squares cut into them. The jar measures 7.5" (h) x 3.25" (w) x 3.25" (l). Based on info found online, this jar may hav ebeen used for peanut butter in the 1930's
