This is a hand-crank ice cream maker or churn. It consists of four pieces: #.a is a galvanized metal pail with notches and holes to receive the crank mechanism. #b is the metal crank mechanism. #c is the inner metal container that would hold the cream/ice cream. This container is very shiny on the inside and has a tight-fitting lid. #d is the curved metal paddle that fits within the inner metal container and up into the crank mechanism. 10"(H) x 11.75"(W) x 8"(Dia) There are the remnants of an adhesive paper label on the side of the pail. Nothing is legible on this label.
There are some gears in the top section, so when the handle is cranked (try it!) the inner pail sins around . Ice would sit between the innner and outer layers, and the milk and other ingredients would go inside the inner pail. After about 30 minutes of cranking, there would be ice cream in the middle.
