Scope and Content

A scrapbook contained within a binder of the various activities of the Broomfield Optimist Club. The cover of the binder reads "1987-88" in blue numbers, as well as "BROOMFIELD LUNCHEON OPTIMIST CLUB" below it. There are two stickers with logos on them on the corners of the cover page. The one in the top left is a graphic black and white design of a leaf with the club logo on it, reading "Integrity/Growth/Service." On the bottom left, there is a black and white illustration of a large tree reading "Service, Growth, Integrity" throughout the design, as well as smaller text below each word defining each word. 51 pages. Within the binder includes: -The names and roles of all the staff -A picture of the club president, Kenneth G. Loach -A message from the governor -A transcription for a club dinner, where they chose a new president for the club -A newspaper clipping about choosing the new president, as well as a short message of thanks to both the Broomfield Optimists and Broomfield Auto Service -Several polaroid photos of the club's dinner meeting, where they chose the new president -A transcription of the Punt, Pass, and Kick Contest, stating when and where it was, where they sourced the trophies, and the winners of the competitions -Various polaroid photos of the events, such as the competition, the crowd, a dog who attended, and a newspaper clipping to caption all of the photos -A newspaper clipping about the club planning Halloween events alongside pictures of the events, as well as a newspaper article speaking on the history of the Halloween events in Broomfield, stating that they had a small start -The information and pictures of the Optimist-Student Of The Month (Sept 1987): Arnold J. Hanuman -Several polaroid photos of a group of men in suits during the winter(?) -Photos of Youth Appreciation Week -An entry for Student Of The Month for December 1987, naming Kristen Kultata and Michelle Eason along with their pictures and information of them -A picture and information of Stacey Kenney, a student of the month for November -A newsletter speaking on hosting an Open House for Optimists, also congratulating all the new members of the club -A written article detailing the ins and outs of the Optimist Luncheon Club, as well as a separate article which covers the changes to them that occurred later -An entry for the Optimist Student of the Month (December), which features a picture and some information on Jennifer Robles -An entry for the Optimist Student of the Month (January), which features a picture and some information on Elizabeth Stone -A letter of thanks written on March 8, 1988 by Mary Schafer which expresses her thanks to the Broomfield Optimist Luncheon Club for their donation to the Broomfield Music Teachers Association -An entry for the Optimist Student of the Month (March), which features a picture and some information on Lori Young -A flier for the 10th Annual Bike Rodeo that is taking place on April 23, 1988 -Newspaper clippings detailing the events and success of the Bike Rodeo alongside photographs of the Bike Rodeo's events -A flier for the 7th Annual Broomfield Luncheon Optimist Garage Sale -Newspaper clippings on the Optimist Club seeking items for the garage sale, the experience of the garage sale, and detailing the success of the Optimist Garage Sale -Several photos of the garage sale taking place -A newspaper clipping accompanied by several photos of the Optimist Junior Golf Tourney -A letter of thanks to the members of the club for their participation of he 5th Annual Continental Airlines -A newspaper article describing the Broomfield Drug-Free Committee seeking to give youths drug-free entertainment, as well as newspaper clippings detailing a party hosted by them -A flier and photographs of the Huck Finn & Becky Thatcher Day, which features a fishing derby and costume contests -Pictures of the Optimist Club Picnic -Pictures of the 1988 Broomfield Day
