Description

This is a Santa Fe Railroad brakeman's hat. It measures 4.75"(H) x 10.5"(W) x 11.5"(L). It was part of a brakeman's uniform. The hat is constructed of navy blue fabric with a patent leather brim. There is a decorative silver band to begins and ends at the sides of the brim. At the end of this silver band are silver buttons that bear the Santa Fe Railroad logo. There is a silver and blue metal placard in the center (crest) of the hat that bears the Santa Fe Railroad logo and the work "BRAKEMAN" in silver letters. The interior of the hat shows a leather hat band and a satin lining. In the inside center is a label which reads: "Harris & Frank California Tailored by Lancaster" There is another label on the hat band that indicates that the hat is size 7 3/8". Note: This hat was recommended for disposal by Megan Huelman in October 2013 (TTempleman 06/30/2017).
