E2023.4.1.a-fDescription
A collection of replica jewelry containing the only copy of a necklace (a), bracelet (b), and earrings (c) originally designed as a gift for Dwight D. Eisenhower's wife, Mamie Down Eisenhower right after the end of WWII.
According to the enclosed letter from an Everett Welch, the jewelry was deigned by Eddie Hoy (working for the "House of Shraeger" [House of Schrager]) for Eisenhower. He is said to have made one copy for his friend "Billie," who was in the Ziegfeld Follies with his sister Lida Lee. It does not indicate how Everett came to have the jewelry, but he was giving it Yoshi Matthews at the time of the letter. Yoshi in turn gave it it to her friend Cynthia Bergman who gifted it to the Broomfield Depot Museum.
The replica jewelry came with an additional pink pouch (d), letter addressed to Yoshi (e), and envelope containing it (f). Letter dated December 28, 1987.Collection
