Gifts from the Mayor of Ueda, Yoichi Tsuchiya to Broomfield Mayor Guyleen Castriotta. Ueda City is the sister city of Broomfield and is located in Nagano, Japan. Gifts came in a box with a card from the Ueda City Museum of Art Museum Shop. The gift was received on September 26, 2023. Broomfield Sister Cities ambassadors Jericho Bondi-Cerrato and Lauren Falardeau presented the gift to the mayor after sharing information of the benefits of the 2023 student exchange. Ueda has been Broomfield's Sister City since 2001. Ueda is in Japan's Nagano Prefecture. Most Broomfielders say "you-ay-duh"with an emphasis on the middle syllable (long a) when referring to this city. Broomfield's original sister city agreement was with the former Town of Maruko. On March 6, 2006, Maruko was officially incorporated into the larger neighboring city of Ueda. The "new" Ueda city also includes the former town of Sanada, the former village of Takeshi and the former city of Ueda, which existed for 87 years before the merger. The upper third is carved into the head of a tiger/dragon/human/demon. The colors used are red and black. 2023.0.47.c is a wooden figurine. The dimensions and shape is the same as 2023.0.46.b. The head is also red and black. The lower two thirds of the figurine has an orange background with blue and white flowers. 2023.0.47.d is a cardboard box.
