This letter is the only one in the Bulkley collection from George Washington French. It was written just over a year before he died. He writes to his Grand daughter “Kittie” from Geneva, NY. It took me a while to work out that Katherine is George French’s step granddaughter and was married to her Grandmother Laetitia Pruden (Reeder/French) whose first husband, and Katherine’s grandfather, Stephen Reeder, died a year after Katherine’s father Stephen Sylvester was born. Uncle Lyman and Uncle Albert are Katherine’s uncles (half-brothers of Stephen).
