Description

One oil painting depicting a head and shoulders portrait of Lady Bate, her dark hair is parted in the center. She is wearing a black dress with a high collar and sleeves that are high and puffed at the shoulders.The painting is displayed in a large gold painted wooden frame. Outer section of frame has gessoed design around outside. Middle section of frame is plain. Inner section forms oval border around painting. It is done in a gold stipple effect with a raised design in each corner.

Notes

Result: Examined Lady Catherine Bate, daughter of Allan and Margaret Cameron, was born at Montreal on September 3, 1833. She married Henry Newell Bate, first Chairman of the Ottawa Improvement Commission (later the National Capital Commission), in December of 1852. She died at Trennick House, Ottawa, on October 5, 1906 and is buried at Beechwood Cemetery.
