Description

One black and white gelatin silver photograph depicting 13 girls dressed primarily in white knee or ankle-length skirts or dresses, in a large room. The room looks like a gymnasium with wooden floors and a diagram on the floor in a circular pattern. Three of the girls are on a raised dais under a gaslight chandelier with banners stretched to the walls. Two union jacks are on the wall in the background (above what appears to be a portrait of Queen Victoria). In the center sits the May Queen with flowered sash, and crown of flowers on her head. Two girls beside her each carry a few sprigs of flowers. The one on the viewer's left is wearing hers on her dress. The photograph is displayed in a brown wooden frame with a light grey mat.
