Description
One black and white photograph depicting Mayor Borthwick laying the first asphalt on the streets of Ottawa. The ceremony was held at the corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street. A partial view of the original Post Office building is on the left side of the photograph and the Russel House Hotel is on the right side of the photograph. There is a large crowd of people on either side of the ceremony. The photograph is displayed in a plain black wooden frame with a white mat.
