One oval shaped framed print depicting a portrait of Lieut.-Colonel John By depicting him in profile facing left, waist up view, he is dressed in red uniform, yellow stand up collar, black inner collar, black belt and eight gold color buttons. Background is mainly black with blue and grey around head area. Double mounted with white and black mats and a gold painted wood frame with very slight ridges along outer edge. Printed below photograph: "LIEUT.-COLONEL JOHN BY, R.E. // (Founder of Bytown, now Ottawa.)", On back: "J. Wilson & Co. stamp in black ink."
