One large rectangular composite print depicting Lord Roberts and the men of Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley who served with the First Contingent of the 2nd Special Service Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry, during the South African War, 1899-1900. The print consists of numbered oval portrait photographs of 192 men surrounding Lord Roberts; each number corresponds to a listing of names at the bottom of the print. The large portrait of Lord Roberts at the center is on a shield with a lion above, a beaver below, and surrounded by Royal Union and Red Ensign flags. Published by the Ottawa Citizen, October 1, 1900.
