Description

[a]: One stereoscope in the medium-brown wooden finish with green cloth on the bottom of the base. The stereoscope has a movable, hinged cardholder that is decorated with a scroll cut-out design located at one of the ends. There are two viewing lenses are mounted in a wooden removable frame at the other end. The top of the base is hinged allowing it to be raised to one of four positions, thus accommodating people of different heights. By sliding the holder, one can bring the image into focus. Two images are taken from slightly different positions, creating a 3-dimensional image when viewed with this device. [b]: One set of glass lenses that are mounted on a rectangular wooden frame that is held in place with two dowels that fit into two holes in the base. There are also a set of brass hinges and a catch in the same location that suggest that these lenses are not the original lenses or are secondary lenses, as the original ones would have been mounted on the hinges and secured by the catch when in use. There are no screw holes in the lens frame.
