Description

The Jacobs lime quarry was located at the end of Limerock St where it intersects Union St. The quarry was used for a town dump for many years after it ceased being a lime quarry. Today it is still the town refuse station.. The Jacobs quarry was purchased by S.f. Allen a portion of the land known as the Jacobs farm. In 1884. Jacobs lime was considered of high quality. It was later known as the Burgess-Jacobs quarry. until 1891 when it was sold to the Shepard family.
