The photo shows William Barrett on Mt. Megunticook near Maiden's Cliff. Megunticook Lake and the Barrett Farm are in the background. William Barrett was known as "wild Bill Barrett" because of his hermit ways and appearance. He was also known as the Camden Mountaineer. He raised bees and grapes on his farm and he was the son of Daniel Barrett who built the toll road around the lake known as the Turnpike.Collection
