Scope and Content
The letter was written while Conway was on the USS Frigate Mississippi off the mouth of the Mississippi River. He tells about receiving a Gold Medal from the Citizens of San Francisco, California for his conduct in not hauling down the flag at the Pensacola Navy Yard.
