1939-1945 Defence Medal, Wanzer Allworth

Description

REPLICA Defence Medal, (1939 - 1945) complete with Green-Black-Orange ribbon. The green represents green and pleasant land, the black represents the black-outs, and the orange represents the firebombing. The medal itself shows two lions flanking a oak sapling, with the dates of the war above and waves to represent the sea below. The obverse shows an uncrowned King George.

Context

This was a medal given to Canadians who served between 1939 and 1945. There is a variety of conditions for qualifying for this medal, but generally most British and Commonwealth soldiers who served in WW2 received this medal.
