Description

An oversized black and white (gloss) photograph of an active oil flare at Imperial Schoepp No. 1, Golden Spike. On the left-side midground is a large black and white smoke plume; to the right midground is an oil derrick; the lower quarter is a dirt and harvested grain field, and the upper 3/4 is open sky. On the reverse, written in blue ballpoint over yellow tape residue is "Imperial Schoepp No. 1 Golden Spike; Nov. 1949".
