A rocks/old fashioned drinking glass, branded to USS Oilwell.
USS Oilwell was a manufacturing and distribution company of oil field products. They merged with National Supply in 1987, to become National Oilwell. Records suggest the set this glass is part of was used in the company offices by visitors.
This glass is an angled rocks/old fashioned drinking glass made from clear glass, with a printed design on one side. The heavy was is narrow, with the sides angling outward in a smooth curve, with a slight rounded lip at the top. The printed design consists of a stylised splash of orange, over which is the black script text ""Oilwell"", below which is a smaller ring inside which is the stylised text "USS". This glass is part of a set of three. The glasses likely date from the mid-1950s to the 1960s, based on the makers mark ("L" within a circle which began use in 1955) and dating of similar glasses.
Old Description (Kelsey Steil, 2/4/2022): Whiskey glass, slightly fluted. Logo on one side, orange diagonal streak with black text over: Oilwell. Black circle below with USS inside.Collection
