Description

A medium-sized photographic print, with a white border. The image is of FOUR ladies seated facing the camera. The ladies featured are Joyce Dunn (past Calgary President), Betty Smith (Program), Margaret Hunter (Program), and a fourth unspecified lady. Description: In order from left to right: a lady in a striped olive-green and white vest with a white long-sleeve blouse, olive-green pants, and a white handbag at her feet; a lady in a mustard-yellow jumpsuit with a brown belt; a lady in a powder-blue button-up cardigan with a large brooch and holding a cigarette; and a lady in a brown/maroon and white patterned blouse with a gold and black ribbon and holding a cigarette. The ladies are seated in maroon armchairs, and in front of the ladies and to the left of the image is a circular table with snacks, papers/documents, and two wrapped gifts. Among the documents on the table are two copies of a Calgary Tower souvenir postcard booklet, one of which we have in our collection as an item from this scrapbook (2004.2.276). Behind the ladies is a low, dark wood shelf below a large window covered in sheer curtains, and open maroon print drapes. On the shelf is a cream rotary dial telephone in the centre and a large album to the left. To the top-left of the image is a chandelier light fixture. Accompanying the photograph (via proximity on the scrapbook page and context) is a white adhesive label with the typewritten text "Region VII Meeting, Calgary; Joyce Dunn (past Calgary Pres.); Betty Smith - Program; Margaret Hunter - Program". Taken during a 1972 Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America meeting, likely the Region VII annual meeting in Calgary (26-28 May 1972). Format: Landscape, colour, with white border.
