Description

I pocket-sized diary/planner for 1956, branded to The National Supply Company Limited. The National Supply Company Ltd. were manufacturers of oilfield rotary drilling and production equipment, as well as marine and rail equipment. They were based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with an office in Calgary, Alberta. It appears to have been in operation from at least the late 1930s through to the 1950s, though exact dates cannot be found. This pocket diary/planner has a navy-blue plastic cover with rounded outer corners and a leather-like texture. On the front cover is stamped in yellow-green ink the company's logo (circle with the text "THE NATIONAL SUPPLY COMPANY" around the inner curve and a crest with NSCO at the centre); "1956" in large text at the centre; and "THE NATIONAL SUPPLY COMPANY, LIMITED" in block text at the bottom. Elements included inside the diary/planner include: - Full-Year calendar, 1956 (inside cover) - List of offices (title page) - List of store locations grouped by US state and Canadian province) - Owner identification page - Weight and Measure conversion chart - Table of US states with their capitals, 1950 census populations, and date admitted to the Union. - Table of US major cities census populations for 1930, 1940, and 1950. - Table of Heating Values of liquid fuels - Table of C° and F° temperature scales - Measurement conversion chart (distance, liquids, and steel weights) - Memoranda page - Dated week-overview planner pages (one week over a two-page spread) - Address book pages - Cash account recording page for each month, with an additional summary page - Telephone number pages - "Spang" Oil Country Tubular Products A.P.I. properties table - Information pages on plastic coated products, and sharp thread casing and tubing - "Spang" branded tables for products including piping, casing, tubing, joints, and, flanges. - Tables on rotary ideal machines, consolidated rigs, power duplex slush pumps, swivels, crown blocks, traveling blocks, hook blocks, rotary connector E-54, and national pumping units beam counterbalanced. - Full-Year calendar, 1957 (back inside cover). Old Description (Kelsey Steil, 7/29/2012): Blue appointment book with yellow text. "The National Supply Company, Limited" and logo on cover. Interior has specifications for tubing and casing.

Light grime/dust/particulates throughout outer cover. Light-grey marks on centre-right of back cover. Dust/particulates in the crease of the spine on some interior pages. Particularly on the inside covers. Marks/grime on the outer edge of the pages, and around the edges of the title page.
