Description

A large portrait-orientated photographic print of Leduc #1 with the fire flare and large black smoke cloud. Derrick is in the background, with a large rise of dirt obscuring the view of the base and a small sliver of snow-covered grass in the foreground. To the right of the derrick is a large flare reaching almost twice the height of the derrick, and to the right of that is a large black smoke cloud that takes up the right 1/3 of the image. A smattering of small white spots of film imperfections to the upper left side of the image. Image provided by the Provincial Archives of Alberta, No. P2727, with the title "Imperial Oil Leduc No I well Leduc Oil fields the Day the Well Blew In Feb 13 / 47".
