Scope and Content

A used manila envelope, addressed to Miss Lillias M. Ferguson, from E-100 Petroleum Center (San Antonio). Description:A large manila envelope, partially cropped on the right-side, with assorted print, stamps, and handwriting on the front. In the top-left corner is the navy-blue ink stamped text "E-100 PETROLEUM VENTER, 900 N. E. LOOP EXPRESSWAY; SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78209". In the top-right corner are three red ink postmark stamps, two are identical (one on envelope and one on a plain white postage stamp) with the test "SAN ANTONIO; MAR22'72; TEX."; with a third stamp of a pump jack to their left. In the upper-left is handwritten in red ballpoint "Please do not bend!". Typewritten in the bottom-right of centre in black ink is written "AIR MAIL; Miss Lillias M. Ferguson; Newman Hattersley Ltd.; 6205 - 97 Street; Edmonton 81, Alta. Canada". In he lower-centre is handwritten in blue ballpoint is "Spring Board Meeting,; Tulsa, Feb 4-5/72". Partially cut off, in the bottom-right is a "RECEIVED" blue ink stamp dated to "MAR 24" and branded to Newman Hattersley Ltd. On the reverse of the envelope is the makers mark for Peerless Clasp Federal Envelope Co. (9x12). Material: Light-weight paper stock, Manila with black print/red ballpoint/blue ballpoint/navy-blue ink stamp/red ink stamp. Associated with Lillias Ferguson's travels during 1972 as a member of the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America. Part of a collection of objects scrapbooked in 1972 by Lillias Ferguson (2004.2.1).
