Description

A curved drop-shape, printed patch, made to commemorate the 1979 World's Record water depth (4876 ft). Features: The patch is shaped like a drop, with a right-curving tail. The border is embroidered with white thread, and base is a white-coloured fabric. Printed inside the embroidered border is a printed design of the same shape. Around the outside of the print is a double black line, filled with yellow. At the base of which is a curved ribbon with the black text: "DISCOVERER SEVEN SEAS". Inside the printed border is a fill of blue designed like the see and sky (solid blue bottom half and lighter dot-shaded blue top, divided by a wave shape). In the top half is a black line illustration of a deep sea rig, to the left-centre. Black text shaped to the curve of the print border, upper-left, reads: "DEEP WATER DRILLING." In white text in the centre reads: "WORLD'S RECORD WATER DEPTH 4876 FEET 1979". The elongated hexagonal Texaco logo is in the lower-centre, below which in curved white text reads: "TEXACO SHELL BLUE H-28".
