Description

Curved-rectangular belt buckle, branded to Alberta Gold Well Servicing. Features: An overlapped curved-rectangular and oval-shaped, cast brass belt buckle, finished in antique-bronze and bearing the imagery of oil equipment and text. The buckle is lightly curved. Front Design: A curved-rectangular belt buckle with an internal/overlapping oval that breaks the rectangular silhouette. The oval element is bordered by a 2mm ring that merges into the rectangular outline. The interior section of the oval is recessed with a soft texture. Along the top of the section, curved to the shape of the oval is the text "ALBERTA GOLD", and along the bottom curve is "WELL SERVICING". In the centre in large text are the initials "AG" to the left and the oil equipment imagery to the right. Back Elements: The back is smooth with a stationary hinge attached at two points, and a curved hook. Between these is a debossed ring with the following text inside "ANACORTES BRASS WORKS LTD. (curved around other text); 1981; HAND MADE IN; SOLID BRASS; ANACORTES; WASHINGTON; U.S.A.; 98221." Old Description (Kelsey Dalrymple, 3 June 2020): Alberta Gold Well Servicing. Rectangular brass belt buckle with black oval in centre. Service rig beside AG in center.

Surface

The sunken surface on the front shows wear/scratches, with two large patches on the right and left sides, as well as above the bottom curved text. A notably large diagonal scratch through the open space above the "AG". Light circular wear/scratches around the hook, on the back.

Materials

Brass is worn from use throughout, rounding edges. Particularly on the left-side of the front.

Notes

Shows signs of regular use, with what appears to be heavy wear across the front surface, softening edges and corners.
