Description

Rectangular belt buckle, branded to Banister. Features: A rectangular, cast metal (likely brass) belt buckle with rounded corners. Finished in antique-bronze. The buckle is lightly curved. Front Design: A 4mm border around the edge and a recessed interior surface with a radial dent texture. In the centre, spanning from top to bottom, is a raised rhombus/diamond with a 6mm border. Inside is the text "BANISTER" with a triangle above and below. Back Elements: The back has a diamond-pattern texture. The hook and hinge base are joined by a bar of metal, riveted to the buckle in the middle. The hinge is secured under the base band and is an irregular hexagon shape with two indented sides. Cleanliness

Adhesive residue on the back: strips along the right and bottom sides; and on the top of the hinge base.

Surface

Moderate to deep denting and scratches throughout the front surface. Notable examples include a deep line dent in the top-right side of the large rhombus/diamond; horizontal scratch through the right corner of the large rhombus/diamond; vertical scratch through the lower triangle; deep end in the centre of the left outer border; large dent at the top of the left outer border; long horizontal scratch along the top of the bottom border and through the bottom-right corner of the border.

Materials

What appears to be oxidisation present around the centre front elements, particularly at the top. Pale blue and green colour. Spot of what appears to be oxidisation on the back, above the hook/hinge rivet.
