Description

Metal belt buckle, branded to the Oilmens Bonspiel, Elk Point (1985). Features: A rounded rectangular, cast metal (with engraved elements) belt buckle with rounded corners, using silver-coloured, and bronze-coloured metals. Bears baroque leaf patterning on the main (silver) surface with engraved text, and the image of an oil rig on a round, bronze, badge at the centre. Front Designs: No outer border. The silver area has shallow baroque leaf designs throughout the surface. Across the top and bottom and ribbon banners, with which are engraved "OILMENS BONSPIEL" (top) and "ELK POINT 1985" (bottom). At the centre of the buckle is attached a round disc of bronze-coloured metal. Around the edge of the disc is a 22m woven design border, inside of which is the image of an oil rig, in front of a scenic mountain background. Back Elements: On the back are the remains of a hinge and a lightly curved hook. The hinge is broken, leaving two snapped stumps. Between the hinge and hook is engraved "PAST PRESIDENT GORDON McCUAIG. Old Description (Kelsey Dalrymple, 3 June 2020): Elk Point Oilmens Bonspiel 1985. Rectangular steel belt buckle with brass centre. Rig in center with mountains in background. Floral curlicues on face of buckle. Etched into back: Past President Gordon McQuaig.

Cleanliness

Adhesive residue throughout the back. A round patch in the mid-top, and a band along the mid-bottom. Additional residue throughout other areas of back.

Surface

Light denting around edges. Light scratching on front surface, notably on the left and right of "ELK POINT 1985" in the bottom ribbon. Two points of denting on the upper-left of the bronze disc.

Structure

The hinge has broken and become lost, leaving only the stumps at the top-left and bottom-left of the back.
