Description

A large-sized photographic print, with a white border. The image is of a large group of women in a hall, some standing on a stage and some seated at tables in the audience. Description: A group of more than 75 (visible) women and one man, seated and standing in a banquet hall. In the foreground are a crowd of women and one visible man, seated at tables, and turned to face the front tables. Immediately in front of the seated crowd, twelve women are standing at a long table, facing the crowd. Behind this long table is a second, higher long table, also with fifteen women behind it standing and facing the crowd. At the centre of this line of women, on is positioned behind a microphone. To the right-of-frame, below the high table a woman is standing with a camera facing the high table. Behind the high table is a tall decorative wall, with six visible curtained windows surrounded with decorative plaster work around them. Each window has drawn white curtains, with tall dark drapes to either side. Two wall sconces are visible, and on the wall is hung a large banner reading "ASSOCIATION OF DESK AND DERRICK CLUBS OF NORTH AMERICA". The reverse of the print is handwritten in pencil the numbers "791". Format: Landscape, black and white, with white border. Print Finish: Gloss Taken during the 1972 Twenty-First Annual Convention of the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs of North America, in Tulsa, Oklahoma (7-9 September 1972). Part of a collection of objects scrapbooked in 1972 by Lillias Ferguson (2004.2.1).
