Description

Rounded-rectangular belt buckle, branded to the 1988 Amoco Canada and Dome Petroleum merger. Features: An overlapped curved-rectangular and oval-shaped, cast brass belt buckle, finished in antique-bronze and bearing the imagery of oil equipment and text. The buckle is lightly curved. Front Design: A curved-rectangular belt buckle with an internal/overlapping oval that breaks the rectangular silhouette. The oval element is bordered by a 2.5mm ring that merges into the rectangular outline. The interior section of the oval is recessed with a soft texture. In raised metal are the following interior elements (left-to-right, top-to-bottom): vertical piping with three valves ('christmas tree'); "AMOCO CANADA - DOME PETROLEUM MERGER" in curved text; AMOCO logo with text and torch imagery in oval; imagery of a pumpjack; DOME logo with text inside an oval; "SEPT." in bottom-left; imagery of oil infrastructure; and. "1988" in bottom-right. Back Elements: The back is smooth, and has a raised, stationary hinge that meets at two points (top and bottom), and a curved hook. Between is a debossed ring with the following text inside "ANACORTES BRASS WORKS LTD. (in a circle around other text); 1988; HAND MADE; SOLID BRASS; ANACORTES, WASH; 98221; U.S.A.; LIFETIME GUARANTEE". In the upper-right of the back is also engraved "575". Cleanliness

Strip of adhesive residue on the back, running vertically to the left of the hook. Additional patches of adhesive residue on the centre over the maker's mark, with paper fibers attaches.

Surface

Light scratches and wear to the front surface. Of note, a squiggly scratch in the top-left corner Parallel horizontal scratches along the top-right of the back.
