Description

Metal belt buckle with black enamel, branded to Cruickshank & Sons, Fort McMurray, Alberta. Features: A rectangular, cast metal belt buckle with rounded corners, finished in antique-silver/Bronze. The buckle slightly curved. Front Design: A 3.5-4mm border around the edge. The interior background is a small speckled texture. Featured in the centre of the buckle is large raised imagery of a service truck. At the top of the buckle is raise text "Cruickshank & Sons", at the bottom of the buckle is text "FORT McMURRAY, ALBERTA". Back Elements: The back has a smooth flat slightly textured background, with a hinge attached at one point by a leafy/ floral texture. To right of the buckle is a small curved hook attached by 4 leafs. Old Description (Kelsey Dalrymple, 3 June 2020): Cruickshank & Sons. Fort McMurrary, Alberta. Rectangular brass belt buckle with truck on face.

Surface

Front: The front of the buckle is worn and discoloured. the buckle used to be an antique bronze and is now a silver. Background is very faded and discoloured. Small scrapes and scratches over the front face of the buckle. Border: Most of the antique bronze is worn off leaving the border to be a silver/ grey. Small scratches and dents along the edges of the border. Back: The back is covered in patches of a yellow/white residue. Discolouration overall the back surface and elements of the buckle.

Mechanism

The hinge is stiff but still has full range of motion.
