Description

Oval belt buckle, branded to Ashland Petroleum and as a Safety Award commemoration. Features: An oval, cast brass belt buckle, finished in antique-bronze. The buckle is lightly curved. Front Design: A 2mm border around the edge, and a 2mm raised interior border. In the 8-10mm recessed space between the borders are the following design elements: A raised curved ribbon banner filling the top section, with the raised text "SAFETY AWARD" bracketed on each side by a 5-points star; a raised curved ribbon banner filling the bottom section, with the raised text "ASHLAND PETROLEUM"; and to the sides between the ribbon banner ends are raised plant-based patterning. Inside the internal border is the company's text logo (a split elongated octagon with the text "ASHLAND"). Back Element: The back has a small bump texture, with an elongated hexagonal hinge with a rectangular prism base, and a rounded, curved hook. Between these are 3 raised rectangle/square borders with text content inside. The top-most narrow rectangle has the text "LIMITED EDITION". The middle square contains the following stylized text logo "The Do It Right © Campaign; 1982-83". The base rectangle has the text "Made in U.S.A.; Solid Brass". Cleanliness

Adhesive residue on the back, with a strip vertically beside the hook.

Surface

The finish on the front is worn and absent in areas, most notable on the octagonal sections of the "Ashland logo. Shallow scratched and dents on the front surface.

Mechanism

The hinge is stiff, but has a full range of movement with light effort.
