Oval belt buckle, branded to CANMAR
Features: An oval, cast metal (likely brass or pewter) belt buckle, finished in antique-brass and silver colour. The buckle is lightly curved.
Front Design: A 3-4mm smooth raised border around the edge of the buckle. In the centre an image of a raised Maple leaf with an engraved derrick in the centre of the maple leaf centre to the belt buckle. Above the design is bold text reading "CANMAR". The background of the base is a gold or brass colour and has a smooth texture, while the raised art is silver (likely where the brass colour wore off).
Back Elements: The back is a smooth texture with no designs or logos on the back. The hook is rounded and curved, and the hinge is an elongated trapezoid connected to the buckle at one point.
Old Description (Kelsey Dalrymple, 3 June 2020): Canmar. Pewter oval belt buckle with gold colouring. Maple leaf and rig in centre.Collection

On the back of the buckle there are some patches of a white accretion in between the hinge and the hook.Surface
There are patches of tarnishing on the front surface, in particular a patch along the bottom left border.
There is moderate wear and chipping of the brass finish on the front, exposing the silver metal on all the raised elements of the front surface.
There is a line of dark yellow adhesive residue along the left side of the hinge attachment, and a vertical line of dark yellow adhesive residue at the base of the hook.
There is also moderate scratching, most notably, a diagonal scratch from the bottom of the maple leaf to the bottom left corner of the derrick design, as well as two short vertical scratches at the base of the bottom left maple leaf, and one scratch across the full base of the middle left maple leaf.
Back: There is a rectangular patch of abrasion containing a circle of more intense abrasion surrounding the hook where the belt would have been.
There also is a ring of abrasion halfway up the hook.
There are also seven lines that appear to be seams in the cast metal going from the hinge toward the left edge of the buckle.Materials
There are four indented lines on the top edge of the buckle that appear to be a result of the casting and not dents.Mechanism
The hinge moves freely.Created By
