Description

The Calgary Gliding Club was first formed in 1929. The club owned and flew a German Gotha glider; once this glider was damaged the club became inactive. They did make the claim (false) on their letterhead "First Glider Flight in Canada". With arrival of Norm Bruce in Calgary in 1934, and availability of Bruce's Lawrence primary glider, the club was reformed and started flying actively. The CGC was flying a different primary glider during 1936 and 1937 until that aircraft was badly damage.
